Class #104, Richard W. Cooke
Winner – Apple Choir, Ayako Komaki conductor, Vancouver Kiwanis Festival
..............The Apple Choir..........................
This small voice ensemble was formed in 2009 from a core group of Ayako's voice students and now also includes members of other choirs in Vancouver. The Apple choir has a wide and varied repertoire including baroque, classic, contemporary, madrigals, opera, sacred, traditional and jazz, in more than 10 languages. We sing not only choir songs but also solo arias. We love to perform at small to big parties, at fundraising concerts, senior's and community centres, long term care facilities, hospitals, and other venues. The Apple Choir is honoured to have received the Richard W. Cooke award as the winners of the ensemble category at the 2017 Performing Arts BC Festival, representing the Vancouver Kiwanis Festival.
